Based in Raja Ampat, Papua, Joy is a diver with more than 20 years of experience. He has enjoyed scuba diving since he was in college at the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, IPB. As an expert in pearl mussel farming, Joy's daily life is in the ocean. Since 2003, when he began to specialize in pearl mussels, he has also explored the natural beauty of Raja Ampat, especially the best dive spots there. He discovered many new dive spots while exploring dive sites around Batanta Island, Raja Ampat. His experience exploring Raja Ampat, made him believe that preserving the biota and fauna in Raja Ampat waters must be done. Together with several home stays managed by Raja Ampat natives, he conducts conservation-based tourism dive guides. His motto at work is “only by god and nature”. This leads him to believe that we are all obliged to give back what we have received from God and Nature.
